President Prabowo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia recently met with King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of Belgium at the Royal Palace of Laeken in Brussels. The meeting, which took place on Sunday, was marked by a warm reception as President Prabowo arrived at the palace. The two leaders then proceeded inside the palace for an official photo session in the main hall.
During their meeting, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude to King Philippe, who reciprocated the sentiment by saying it was a pleasure to meet him. The atmosphere was cordial as they engaged in a private one-on-one discussion. Accompanying President Prabowo were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Ambassador Andri Hadi.
This meeting with King Philippe was the final engagement of President Prabowo’s visit to Belgium, which also included strategic diplomatic meetings with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa. The discussions focused on finalizing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to enhance economic relations between Indonesia and the European Union.
After bidding farewell to King Philippe, President Prabowo proceeded to Paris, France, to attend Bastille Day celebrations as a guest of honor. His visit to Brussels and subsequent engagements highlight Indonesia’s active diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties with the international community.
