Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, highlighted the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests to prevent them from getting addicted to games and gadgets. She emphasized the need for parents to engage in physical activities with their children, such as exercising together. Isyana shared this message during a discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) in Jakarta. She stressed the significance of parents continuously learning and keeping up with online applications, as children tend to learn faster than adults. Isyana pointed out that children often seek instant gratification through social media or online games, leading to potential addiction issues. To combat this, she suggested sports, sunlight, and outdoor activities as healthy alternatives to boost dopamine levels. Veronica Tan, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, also introduced the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, aimed at providing safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower themselves, learn, play, and unleash creativity. Through RBI, children are encouraged to avoid gadget addiction by engaging in traditional and creative games, sports, and creative activities.
