The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program has been proven to have a positive impact on children’s concentration levels based on recent studies. This improvement in concentration is expected to contribute to increased learning motivation among students. Experts from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) have conducted research showing a significant enhancement in concentration among students who receive Free Nutritious Meals.
According to Ikeu Tanziha, an Expert Council Member of BGN, research in Aceh indicated that students benefiting from the MBG Program showed improved concentration levels. This improvement is crucial as it not only enhances educational outcomes but also boosts students’ motivation to continue learning. Studies conducted in various regions such as Bogor, Papua, and Medan have demonstrated a notable improvement in learning focus and cognitive performance among students enrolled in the program.
Ikeu highlighted the importance of concentration in relation to attention and cognitive function. She emphasized that factors such as learning motivation, nutritional intake, psychological well-being, and physiological conditions like sleep quality and environment design can influence a child’s ability to concentrate. Additionally, Ikeu pointed out the significance of key nutrients like protein, iron, and omega-3 in supporting brain development and cognitive function, including memory.
The MBG Program aims not only to fulfill children’s nutritional requirements for physical growth but also to enhance their cognitive potential and intelligence. Despite challenges such as unhealthy consumption behavior and limited access to nutritious foods, experts believe in the long-term benefits of the program for future generations and society as a whole. Strengthening support for the successful implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program is crucial to ensuring lasting positive outcomes.
