President Prabowo Subianto has set an ambitious goal to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children across Indonesia by the end of 2025. This initiative has been declared a national priority and a matter of urgency. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Prabowo shared a touching experience from his recent visit to Central Java, where the need for the program was evident.

While traveling from Solo to Klaten, Prabowo witnessed the overwhelming demand for nutritious meals from schoolchildren and teachers. He recounted how children eagerly asked for meals even before school had started, which deeply affected him. In response to this, Prabowo instructed his team to expedite program implementation, aiming to reach 20 million children by mid-August with the ultimate goal of reaching 82.9 million children by December 2025.

The efforts to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program have garnered international attention, with other nations closely observing Indonesia’s progress. Prabowo emphasized the urgency of delivering results to match the optimism surrounding the program. He expressed his commitment to addressing child hunger, malnutrition, and learning disparities by ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, receives the necessary nutrition to thrive.

Prabowo’s dedication to combating child hunger and malnutrition has been recognized globally, with world leaders acknowledging Indonesia’s ambitious targets for the Free Nutritious Meal Program. Despite the challenges ahead, Prabowo remains determined to fulfill the promise of providing meals to 82.9 million children by the end of 2025.
