The Indonesian diaspora in Brazil was filled with pride and excitement as President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Rio de Janeiro. Isaque Hattu, Chair of the Indonesian Diaspora in São Paulo, warmly welcomed the President and his delegation on Saturday morning. Despite being a small community in Brazil, Hattu shared that the sense of solidarity among the Indonesian diaspora was strong as they embraced their leader’s visit. Engaging in a friendly chat, Hattu shared his family background with Prabowo, revealing his roots from Maluku and Kupang. The President expressed his pleasure upon hearing about Hattu’s parents, who had served as missionaries in Brazil in the past. Recognizing the name of Indonesian figure Petrus Oktavianus, who had been assigned to Brazil previously, Prabowo’s warmth towards the diaspora was evident. In closing, Hattu expressed his hope that Prabowo’s leadership would enhance the bond between Indonesia and Brazil through cultural exchange and deeper understanding, fostering a stronger relationship between the two nations.
