A group of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to tackle the issue of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The meeting, guided by Prabowo’s directive, aimed to find solutions for the affected workers. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s deep concern for the workers and stressed the pressing need to address the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a revamped working model within the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s dedication in paving the way for the potential rehiring of former Sritex employees within a two-week timeframe.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s unwavering promise to offer support and guidance is anticipated to bring relief to PT Sritex employees impacted by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively advocating for the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive proper layoff compensation and other entitlements. Currently, the PT Sritex Curator Team is in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, ultimately leading to the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This strategic move seeks to provide stability to the affected employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
