Prabowo and Gibran Pledge to Continue Downstreaming and Development of Natural Resource-based Industries

A developed country must be able to maximize its potential natural resources for the advancement of the national economy and its people. Indonesia, through downstreaming and industrialization, can convert basic commodities into high-value competitive products, create more quality jobs, and drive domestic economic growth.

This mission will make Indonesia not only a raw material-producing country, but also a producer and manufacturer of quality products that can compete on the international stage. This is done by effectively utilizing resources, asserting Indonesia’s economic sovereignty, reducing dependence on imports, and ensuring sustainable development for future generations.

Prabowo and Gibran are committed to continuing downstreaming and industrialization programs through various programs and plans, including:

Deepening and continuing downstreaming and industrialization in various sectors within economic growth centers, both new and existing ones.
Building equitable infrastructure, emphasizing access to industrial areas, agricultural production land, fisheries, and plantations, prioritizing the absorption of local labor.
Rebuilding national, basic, and strategic industries capable of producing capital goods to reduce import dependence.
Increasing the domestic component level (TKDN) for commodity industries that drive downstreaming.
Developing innovative financing programs to attract investment into the country as part of the industrialization and downstreaming program.

In addition, they also promised to continue supporting infrastructure for downstreaming and industrialization, including:

Developing infrastructure and road networks in main and connecting corridors to support access to economic areas and transportation hubs.
Improving transportation connectivity in logistic corridors for cargo transportation.
Standardizing infrastructure and facilities at all main ports and airports.
Building export-import gateways and international transshipment hubs, especially at ports with significant export-import traffic.
